About Jim Corbett National Park

The oldest national park in India, this wildlife sanctuary has been a hot-spot for plenty of nature lovers. The humble abode of Sambar deer, elephant, golden jackal and many others, the park has surprises in store for all. It is inhabited by at least 130 tigers, 600 species of birds, 50 mammals and 25 reptile species. From abundant flora and fauna to green foliage, there is beauty all around.

Corbett National Park is an amazing blend of high hills, swamp, river side belts and green meadows covering an area of 522 kilometers at the foot hills of the greater himalayas and this makes the park a heaven for wildlife adventures lovers. This unique reserve is known worldwide for the wide range of flora and fauna that is offers to the visitors. Gaining name and fame in such a filed is quite a challenge but the Corbett National Park has gained a special place in the hearts of nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts from all over the globe. Dhela

Sprawling over 1173 hectares, Dhela Zone is the sixth eco-tourism zone of Corbett Tiger Reserve that was brought on India tourism map in 2014. Dhela Ecotourism zone remains open for tourists throughout the year. The zone is 18 kilometers from the Ramnagar, right beside the Jhirna safari zone of Corbett Tiger Reserve. Here, you can find mixed forest such as Saal, Rohini, Haldu, Bahera, Kusum vegetation, which makes it ideal for birdwatching tour in Jim Corbett Park. Along with abundant flora and bird population, Dhela Tourism Zone has a good population of Deer Species (Barking, Sambhar and Chital), Tigers, Leopards, Asiatic Elephants, Sloth Bears and King Cobras.

Jhirna Zone

At the Southern coener of the Corbett National Park, Jhirna zone is known as easy and best wildlife sightseeing. Blessed with amazing wildlife beauty, Jhirna zone is open all round the year for visitors. Once Jhirna was a village which relocated under Project Tiger to some other place and now become a dense forest.

Located at 16 km from Ramnagar, Jhirna Gate or Khar Gate is the entry point to Jhirna Range. Visitors can enjoy nilgai, cheetal, sambhar in thier natural habitat and if lucky, then Tiger might be seen.

Tourist can stay for a night in Forest Rest House FRH Jhirna. Guide is compulsory for any Safari in Jhirna Range. Jeep and elephant safari are available at Jhirna. Pre-booking is recommended for a Safari in Jhirna Range. Bookings are to be done at Ramnagar office. Jhirna Zone is open for visitors all round the year. Only two safari are operated during a day in Jhirna zone.

Dhikala Forest

Dhikala Forest Zone is the most preferable and happening zone in Jim Corbett national park. It’s surrounded with ample Flora and Fauna. It’s one of the largest and beautiful zone of Jim Corbett Park, Different kind of species are easily spotted in this zone like Deer (spotted, Barking, Sambhar, Barasingha) , Fox , Elephants , Tiger , Hyena , Monitor Lizard , Monkey and many other types of species. Dhikala offer the stay inside the jungle without any hustle bustle enjoy the calmness of jungle . Dhikala Forest Rest House offers 32 lodges and 2 Domitories for the visitors. Night stay in Dhikala is highly recommended for the wildlife lover.

Dhangadi Corbett Museum

Dhangarhi Museum is located near Dhangarhi Gate at Corbett National Park. It is situated at a distance of 18 km from Ramnagar in Nainital district of Uttarakhand. ... Ramnagar railway station at 19 km is the nearest railhead to Dhangarhi Museum. Pantnagar airport at 94 km away is the closest air connectivity from here.

Bijrani Zone

Bijrani Range is located close to Amdanda Gate anear Ramnagar. Visitors can have higher probablity of tiger sighting during Bijrani Safari. Wildlife, grasslands and dense, deep forest with stormy drains are major attraction of Bijrani wildlife zone. A favourite spot for shooting in British era, Bijrani range is still a hot spot for wildlife lovers. Bijrani Range has core, buffer and tourism zone. Tourists are allowed to visit only tourism zone which atarts after 5 km from Amdanda Gate. Forest Rest House FRH Bijrani is available for night stay at Bijrani Range. Visitors can take jeep and elephant safari at Bijrani. It is recommended to pre-book Safari at Ramnagar office. Bijrani Zone is open for visitors from 15 October to 15 June. Only two safari are operated during a day in Bijrani zone.

Sitabani Wildlife Reserve

Sitabani Wildlife Reserve falls in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand and has geographical and ecological characeristics of the Sub-Himalayan belt. It comprises an entire hill of the Kumaon Himalayas and is flanked on three sides with dense Sal forest connecting it to the famous Jim Corbett National Park

Tumheria Dam

Tumaria Dam having a height of 15.9 meters and 10,000 metres long is built on Phika River. The pious river Ganga serves as the basin area of this dam.

Marchula

Marchula is a beautiful offbeat destination which is nestled in the Ramnagar town of Uttarakhand. This destination is not so famous amongst the tourists but the untouched natural charm and peace in this destination makes it one of the best offbeat destinations for the peace and nature lovers. This spectacular village is beautifully placed on the banks of the River Ramganga and it is also the central hub to the Jim Corbett National Park. Corbett Waterfall

Another untold delight which you can’t miss out if you are planning to go and visit the Jim Corbett National Park, is the Corbett Waterfall. It is located about 22 to 25 kms from Ramnagar by road while going to Nainital. Tourists can see it from a safe distance, without entering its waters; as they might be infested with snakes and crocodiles.

Corbett Waterfall is surrounded by dense teak forest, which in turn increase its beauty. The sound of falling water lightly on the ground, mixed with melodious chirping of birds, just makes the perfect natural music which a nature lover would like to hear for sure.
