If you're planning a trip to Jim Corbett, one of the first questions you'll probably ask is: Which safari zone should I book?
The answer isn't simply the zone with the biggest reputation. Corbett's tourism zones offer different landscapes, safari formats, access arrangements and experiences.
Jhirna, Dhela and Bijrani are popular private-jeep options for visitors staying outside the forest. Phato is another strong private-jeep option and is worth considering for a second safari or when preferred zones are unavailable.
Dhikala works differently. Visitors staying outside the forest can experience Dhikala through a shared Canter safari, while forest-stay packages offer the more immersive option of staying inside the forest.
If you are staying at Parwati Wild Abode, Jhirna and Dhela are particularly convenient options because the resort is near both gates. Bijrani is another popular private-jeep option, while Phato, Bhandarpani/Hathidagar and Sitabani provide additional alternatives depending on availability.
The best zone therefore depends on the kind of experience you want. For one safari, choose a zone that is convenient and available. For two safaris, consider two different zones so that you experience different parts of Corbett. If Dhikala is important to you but you do not want to stay inside the forest, consider the Canter safari.
No zone can guarantee a tiger sighting. Wildlife moves freely through its habitat, and sightings depend on many factors. Choose your safari for the overall forest experience, not a promise of seeing a particular animal.
